Guido Fawkes’ Blog on my Blog

August 9, 2010

This is going to keep me occupied for hours and hours. I fell over this by accident, and I am so glad I did! http://order-order.com/ It’s brilliant and not just for the funny stuff. It is published by Global and General Nominees Ltd and here’s what they say about themselves:

“Guido’s blog was started in September 2004. The choice of the Guido avatar and character was deliberate, the thinking being that Guy Fawkes had great name recognition, a memorable “brand” and a great reputation as the only man to enter parliament with honest intentions……….Guido’s blog was started in September 2004. If you’ll pardon me writing this, there is a huge list of subjects on the right hand side of the page, but my eye was immediately drawn to “Totty Watch” and “Twat Watch”. If anyone makes a single public blunder – it’s up for public scrutiny, and he/she who writes this blog, doesn’t care who or which party or where professionally the person is from. They are all fair game for this particular blogger!

Snouts in the Trough is visually particularly funny http://order-order.com/tag/snouts-in-trough/; 16th July Breaking News: Lord Taylor accused of false accounting.

Also, the News of the World is called “News of the Screws”  just like Private Eye:-) and the cartoon page on here is so graphic, it’s on the point of cringe-making – especially the latest offering on school milk for children…………Well, I guess this is a very serious rival to Private Eye, which I have been reading since I can remember –  25 years or more. But, I’d lay money that this blogger also writes for Private Eye, but writes more eloquently to ensure anonymity. It’s just that this electronic communication doesn’t mince its words, whereas Private Eyes’ command of the English language is somewhat more discerning. I like both – so its no issue to me.

The blog has advertising on the site, but it (the site) has to be paid for somehow, and it doesn’t interfere with the topics. Actually I said that too soon; whilst reading about the Staggers being unable to recruit an assistant editor (The New Statesman) a Samsung ad dropped across the screen. Oh well, I suppose it did have a “close” button.

Now imaging how you would put this web site to better use. What a great place to check up on people in the public eye for reputational risk. You want a politician or another famous person to do a speech at your corporate event? (come on investment bankers; the parties are on again!) Check this site for their latest blunders, before you hire. Will it make or break your hire’s reputation? It can go either way sometimes; Hugh Grant and a certain coloured lady spring to mind……

So take a look, but not in firm/corporate time. Once you get into this web site, you won’t want to leave it alone. I hope you enjoy it. I’ll be back………….
